Mangalore: Book to Commemorate Parliamentarian Dr Alva’s Birth Centenary Released

Mangalore, May 20: Late Dr K Nagappa Alva, a freedom fighter and parliamentarian is a true role model for people’s representatives, said home minister Dr V S Acharya.

He was speaking after releasing a book in Kannada, ‘Pratibhavanta Samsadiyapatu Pustaka Maalike Kriti’ on Alva to commemorate his birth centenary at the Town hall here on Wednesday May 19. “His work as state health minister and contribution to health sector during his political life has been immense. He was truly responsible to lay a strong foundation that led to the growth of health facilities in the state, he observed.

































Inaugurating an exhibition, district in-charge minister J Krishna Palemar said that a road in the city if named after Alva, it would be a great honour to the veteran. 

Karnataka Legislature Library Committee president MLA M Narayan Swamy delivered the introductory address. The author, Raghu Shettigar was felicitated on the occasion. Mohandev Alva, son of Dr Alva too was honoured. The book has been published by the committee.   

The programme was organized by the Karnataka Legislature Library Committee. Legislative council chairman Veeranna Mattikatti presided. MLAs M Narayana Swamy, B Ramanath Rai, U T Khader, MP Nalin Kumar Kateel, MLC Capt Ganesh Karnik and Mayor Rajani Dugganna among others were present.
