Mumbai, Nov 27: Over 26 new AC electric buses have been inducted in BEST on Thursday. The BEST official said that the buses will ply on short routes and are noiseless and do not cause any pollution.

The BEST’s fleet of e-buses is now raised to 72, six are owned by BEST while the rest are taken on rent (wet lease). The new buses are single-decker midi buses manufactured by Tata Motors, said BEST spokesperson Manoj Varade.

One of the BEST officials said that most of the funding comes from the Centre, however, BEST pays a portion of the rent to the private agency which provides the vehicle along with drivers and also maintains the buses.
