Mangaluru: 27 women including two children donate hair for cancer patients

Mangaluru, Nov 25: Mangalore Ladies Circle 82 in association with Mercy Beauty Academy & Ladies Salon conducted a hair donation drive ‘Hair for Hope’ at Mercy Beauty Academy & Ladies Salon here at Bunts Hostel on Wednesday, November 25.

Since a week hair donation drive is being conducted and as many as 27 people have donated their hair for cancer patients. Of the 27 members who donated their hair, there was also a mother-child duo with the child being just eight-years-old. The drive also had another child who at the age of nine years donated her hair for the cause.



On November 25, nine members donated their hair for cancer patients and received certificates for making the donations. The minimum length of hair required for the donation is 12 inches. In total, over 27 members have stepped forward to do this selfless service and put a smile on the faces of the cancer patients. One can donate their hair to make wigs which can be used by people who have lost hair as an effect of chemotherapy, radiation therapy, alopecia and other medical issues.

Chairperson Mangalore Ladies Circle 82, Cr Cherishma D'Silva, project convenor Cr Nanditha Fernandes, proprietor Mercy Beauty Academy & Ladies Salon, Ln Veena Mercy D'Souza were present.

    Great gesture from the ladies and ofcourse a wonderful initiative from Mercy Salon. Veena, the properietress has already been indulging in a lot of activities that puts women in the front. Kudos to her.

    It looks like a successful hair donation drive 'Hair for Hope' for the ones suffering from cancer. This cause needs all the support it can get. The ones who came forward to help in this cause, your effort is commendable.
