Mangaluru, Oct 29: The effect of pandemic has resulted in a low key celebration of Navaratri and put a break on lavish celebrations. There were not many tiger dance troupes to be seen like before due to various restrictions placed. Photoshoots and face painting associated with the festival this season such as Sri Krishna Janmastami and Navaratri is trending on social media with lot of creativity in it.

Chetana S, proprietor of renowned Chetana's Beauty Lounge located at Bendorewell came up with an idea of doing a realistic lion face painting to mark the conclusion of Navaratri season. Chetana has executed her plans of lion face painting which looks realistic. The picture of face painting is trending and has been widely appreciated on social media.

The concept was developed by Chetana as Navaratri festival was approaching and it was a right time for her to execute her plans of realistic lion face painting. Goddess Durga is known as ‘Mahisasura Mardini’ means killer of Demon Mahisasur who was represented as the lion known as Simhavahini, one who resides on lion. Maa Durga is depicted riding a lion, which symbolizes unlimited power.

Speaking to Daijiworld Chetana S said, "The concept was in my thoughts for a long time and I wanted to do something different to mark the Navaratri festival. I really wanted to put this concept into action but was not very confident. As Navaratri festival was nearing, I thought this would be the best time to work on it. Even after I started working on the concept, I was lacking confidence. But I am very grateful as my team encouraged me to do it.

“It is realistic face painting which took five hours to complete. Eyebrows were sealed using a sealing wax. The lion's eyes were drawn on the eyelids and I used hair colour for the mane of the lion with a bushy texture,” she said.

Chetana also credits Vivek Sequeira for wonderfully capturing the pictures of the realistic face painting which gave life to the concept. “His knowledge and skills resulted to a great outcome. It made the work look realistic. It would not appear so real and attractive without the photography skills of Vivek Sequeira, assisted by Martin Joylan. Credit must go to even Shreeya M Bhat for her patience who happily agreed for this face painting," she said.
