Mangaluru: Leaders hold protest, demand to upgrade Wenlock Hospital

Mangaluru, Oct 28: Under the banner of 'Save government hospital action committee Ullal', a dharna was undertaken at 10 am on Wednesday October 28 near the Thokkottu bus stand. The dharna will go on till 4 pm.

The committee, as part of its agitation plan, has been holding dharna in front of the offices of different MLAs. On Wednesday, the protest is being held opposite the office of Mangaluru (Ullal) MLA.

The committee is demanding to strengthen government hospitals, regulate private hospitals, upgrade Wenlock hospital into super specialty hospital, establish government medical college and cancer hospital for each district, set up primary, community health centres and taluk hospitals in tune with the norms on the basis of population, and to fill doctors’ vacancies.

Democratic Youth Federation of India leaders Muneer Katipalla and Krishnappa Salian, as well as Congress leaders Dinesh Rai and Dinesh Kumpala are participating.

    DYFI is one org fight for justice.Otherwise our representatives are dough, dumb and no vision. Ullal MLA was health minister few years back promised this but suddenly busy with other affairs. Wenlock is now need to be open for the patients other than Covid..

    Upgrade Wenlock and LGH to an AIIMS - that’s the only way we can get affordable and quality care in DK . Families are being reduced to penury with the high bills and unaffordable care
