'Marwadi Hatao' campaign in Udupi is unacceptable: Kuilady Suresh Nayak

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB/EP)

Udupi, Oct 27: Expressing disappointment at hardline campaigns taking place in Udupi, district BJP president Kuilady Suresh Nayak said, “Any kind of 'Hatao' campaigns that are taking place in Udupi, a place which has been a symbol of unity among people of different religions along with social, educational, cultural and business sectors is unacceptable."

Speaking at a press conference held in the BJP office on Tuesday, October 27 over the 'Marwadi Hatao' campaign that has gone viral on social media, the BJP leader maintained that people from different communities have contributed to the success of the Indian economy. “Citizens of India are allowed to conduct business anywhere in the country for their livelihood and prosperity,” he said.

“Thousands of people from Udupi conduct their business in and outside the country. The BJP is against harassment of people who are carrying out their businesses in Udupi because of the statements and activities of 'Marwadi Hatao' campaign," the district BJP president said.

“BJP believes in ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’, which refers to the collective unity for the development of all. BJP is with every form of businesses which operate in Udupi. The party gives courage to businessmen who face problems in other states. Such discriminatory statements are harmful to the unity of the country. It is necessary that in the current situation unity is maintained and the country grows prosperous,” he said.

“Elections will be held in Kundapur on October 29. BJP has been unable to obtain the seats only in Kaup local administration. It has managed to win posts of the president or vice president in other places. The local administration has been quiet without power for the past two and a half years. Soon, the developmental works will pick up speed,” he said.

“BJP won 102 seats out of 154 in last gram panchayat elections. It is aiming for more than 130 seats this time. BJP is stable in the district. Local elections will be held in November-December this year. Discussions on the selection of candidates are also being held at the rural level,” he said.

Veena Shetty, Guruprasad district BJP spokesperson, Shivakumar Ambalpady, co-spokesperson and Srinidhi Hegde, media convener were present.

do not compare hotel / restaurant business done by Udupi / Mangalore people to bania trading business...

hotel / restaurant business (not chaivala / pakode business) is one of the toughest....

it is not like buying spurious/sub-standard/cheap/fake items, adding margin and selling to consumers... hoarding , artificial shortages and many other harmful trade practices...

if you buy bulb from bania shop, it will last 3-6 months (mostly it is duplicate of famous brands)... if you buy from a non-bania professional shop, it will last years...

I believe instead of marwadi hatao, it should be tulunadu Bachao. Our culture and traditions carried forward is diminishing and we need to protect our culuture, tradition and identity. Its obvious that people's from other states will come and do the business but are we not intelligent enough to compete with them. I know marwadis have unique style of doing business and wherever they go they doesnot forget there traditions and culture and have deep roots in them. Do we have such deep roots our people doing business outside tulunadu. If need to protect our identity our culture need to form organization to protect our identity.

Nobody has the right to hatao anyone from Udupi or Mangalore, if they are doing business by cheating or fraud , there is court and police , Marwadis are doing business professionally and without disturbing the social fabric of our society , there is no point in these kind of hatao's.

our people go and open udupi hotels in entire India , what if the locals do hatao there?? people who r opposing them are either jealous of their business or have some political motive behind this

Marwaris mostly doing cash business and only interested in profit margins, and some also sell duplicate low quality merchandise for maximum profit. Also all their family male members contribute in the business and females cook for entire household under one roof....twenty people also might stay under one roof and for 3 times a day, 365 days of the year also, they will eat only dal and roti with achar. ..very simple lifestyle (some rich ones might drink alcohol) but they live and die for business...

Business ಜಾತಿಗಳ ಪಾರ್ಟಿ... Religion, religious divide etc. etc. etc. are tools to keep these people flying high...
from beginning Jan Sangh / BJP had the full backing of business communities..

Mostly trader community is fully with BJP so that they do not face problems with policies and taxes etc. etc. Many opposing politicians/bureaucrats land in jail but traders like N Modi, M Choksey, L Modi and so many others are enjoying good life abroad after looting 1000s of crores of Indian public money...

Whatever institutions built with public money is being sold to private sector... Indian business is traditionally dominated by business castes Gujarathis, Marwaris (Rajastanis)...

After China dominated manufacturing, Indian banias stopped producing any thing, just buy and sell at higher price and make in china was only for labels and packaging/branding and not for the product...

now with this kind of power balance, rest of India has come under the ಕಪಿ ಮುಷ್ಟಿ of trading communities... more than political exploitation, economic exploitation is there covered and hidden under religion, cow, hindu muslim, pakistan, china etc.

Slogan is "Make in India"...airports are handed over to a so called "Indian Trader" at an artificially high "fixed" price and he sub-contracts to a foreign company at low price and fills his pocket with the hefty margin...

They are unscrupulous business people. Most of the small shops either kirana or electrical shops are run by Marwadis in Mumbai. They have a unwritten monopolistic behaviour where the prices of goods are controlled and competition is wiped out thereby the customers are at a disadvantage.

Who controls business empires and the stock markets in India ??? Obviously it is the Gujarati, Marwadi, Zoroastrian communities !!!

We have some much to understand and learn, their art of trading, dedication to survive against all odds.

Yes it is very true that this business acumen, is ingrained in their children at a very tender age, they are privileged due to their close knit societies, who bail out their brethren in distress This basic instincts make them a go getter and a money spinning community !!!

If you look at U S, a capitalist society, the owner makes a lot of money only if the product is good and the system is efficient. In the bargain, the owner generates employment to a lot of people. The Marwadi community exemplifies this.
