Mangaluru: Fr Pradeep Sequeira offers thanksgiving mass on eightieth birthday

Mangaluru, Oct 24: Fr Pradeep Sequeira SJ, the finance officer of the college celebrated his eightieth birthday on October 24 at St Aloysius College, Harihar along with the staff and dignitaries including Fr Melwin Pinto SJ, Fr Melwyn D'Cunha SJ, Fr Stany DSouza SJ, Fr Eric Mathias SJ and other priests and nuns from various parts of the district.

The day began with a thanksgiving mass celebrated by Fr Pradeep and was followed by a birthday celebration programme hosted by the college. The programme, compered by Diksha began with a prayer song followed by a welcome dance presented by Ananya, a II PUC student.

Baptist Sunny Gudinho, the principal of the college then extended a warm welcome to all who had gathered for the celebration. Fr Pradeep then cut his 80th birthday cake which filled everyone's heart with joy. As a mark of gratitude towards Fr Pradeep's service towards the institution and the society, the dignitaries felicitated him. Fr Melwin Pinto then raised the toast wishing the man who played the roles of a teacher, counselor, pastor, social worker, administrator, leader, formator and educationist in his life well for his future ministry.





A video was then presented as a token of love from the staff's side on his birthday. A dance was then presented by Sowmya Clara and group. Fr Pradeep then addressed the gathering calling his 80th birthday celebration as the Superior's dream- translated event. He said he owed the second lease of life to many people. He said reminding the people that nothing is in our hands but in the hands of God. However, we must make the best of the opportunities God gives us. He thanked everyone gathered there for making his birthday special. The programme was brought to a close by Princy Pinto who proposed the vote of thanks.
