Bantwal, Oct 20: In a tragic incident which happened at Vittal in the taluk in the wee hours on Tuesday October 20, two shops were gutted.
Fire broke out in the M P Hardware and Paints shop located in K J Towers near KSRTC bus stand here. The things inside the shop and a bakery adjacent to it were turned into ashes as the fire raged.
Initially fire was noticed in the paint shop. The locals who noticed it informed the shop owner. The fire spread to the bakery in no time. Even though the locals tried to douse the fire, they were unable to open the door of the shop. The fire became fierce as stock of paint caught fire inside the shop. The fire brigade personnel fought hard to extinguish the fire. They ensured that the fire did not spread to other nearby shops.
Vittal police visited and scrutinized the spot.
