Beltangady, Oct 20: An eight-month-old girl child lost its life after falling into a bucket filled with water on Sunday October 18. This incident happened at Kallakote in Arasinamakki village in the taluk.

It is said that the child's mother was washing clothes when the baby was playing with a steel glass. The mother got busy with washing of clothes. After sometime, she turned panicky as she observed that her daughter was not to be seen. She went searching for the child and found her having drowned in a bucket of water placed inside the bathroom.

It is suspected that the child, which was playing, would have peeped into the bucket wthout realizing that its life was in danger. It is thought that the child would have lost its balance and fallen into the water.

No complaint was filed in the police station relating to this incident.
