Unemployment rate in Bihar lesser than Delhi: CMIE


Patna, Oct 19 (IANS): While the political temperature in Bihar is high on the issue of unemployment, the Centre for Monitoring Indian Economy (CMIE) has issued data for September wherein the unemployment rate in Bihar is lower than Delhi and Uttarakhand.

As per the report, the unemployment rate in Delhi is 12.5 per cent, while in Bihar it is 11.9 per cent.

Seizing the opportunity, the BJP tweeted on the report and sought a reply from RJD leader Tejajwi Yadav, who in every political rally claims that the unemployment rate of Bihar is 46 per cent.

The report further said that the national unemployment rate during the lockdown in April was 23.5 per cent, which declined to 21.7 per cent in June. In September, the national unemployment rate declined further to 7.4 per cent.

As far as other states are concerned, Uttrakhand topped the chart at 22.3 per cent, followed by Haryana (19.7 per cent), Tripura (17.4 per cent), Jammu and Kashmir (16.2 per cent), and Rajasthan (15.3 per cent).

The lowest unemployment rate was found in Assam and Chhattisgarh at just 2 per cent, followed by Odisha (2.1 per cent), Karnataka (2.4 per cent), Gujarat (3.4 per cent), Telangana (3.3 per cent), Uttar Pradesh (4.2 per cent) and Maharashtra (4.5 per cent).
