Kundapur: Provide justice to women of self-help training centre – former MLA K Gopala Poojary

Kundapur, Oct 19: “The self-help centre run by Vandse gram panchayat was a boon for hundreds of women. Closing it all of a sudden at night it under the leadership of the MLA is unpardonable. Provide justice to distressed women in the presence of panchayat and officials after calling a meeting. We will not stop the protests otherwise,” said former Byndoor MLA K Gopala Poojary.

He was addressing protests held condemning the illegal closure of self-help tailoring training centre at Vandse. The protests were held by Kundapur taluk panchayat raj okkoota and other organizations under the aegis of state Dalit Sangharsha samiti, Bheema Gharjane taluk committee Kundapur near Katbelthur gram panchayat on Monday.

“It is your duty to treat all the people equally. You had promised to construct an airport and a medical college once you win the elections. None of them has become a reality. The efforts of Pratapchandra Shetty and me are included in the lift irrigation,” he said.



Kundapur taluk panchayat raj okkoota president, Vandse gram panchayat president Udaya Kumar Shetty said that closure of the centre putting the women to hardship is not right.

State Dalit Sangharsha Samiti Bheema Gharjane taluk committee convener Udaya Kumar Tallur, Udupi district raitha sangha spokesperson Vikash Hegde and others spoke on the occasion.

Vandse block Congress president Pradeep Kumar Shetty, Kundapur block Congress president Hariprasad Shetty Kanmakki, Panchaganga farmer’s service Cooperative Society president Santhosh Kumar Shetty, Nagappa Kothary, Manjula Devadiga, Srinivas Ganiga, taluk panchayat member Udaya Poojary, Santhosh Kumar Shetty Ballady and others were present.

Udupi district farmer’s association Trasi zone president Sharath Shetty Balikere welcomed the gathering and gave an introductory address.
