Mangaluru: St Aloysius College awarded three research grants by VGST, Government of Karnataka

Mangaluru, Sep 30: Vision Group on Science and Technology (VGST) Department of Electronics, IT, BT and S&T, Government of Karnataka recognized the department of Postgraduate Studies and Research in Biochemistry, St Aloysius College (Autonomous) under K-FIST L1 for the proposal submitted by Dr Lyned Dafny Lasrado, assistant professor of the department.

The grant amount of Rs 15 lac will be utilized to develop research facilities in the department for the next two years. Her project title is 'Establishing a Laboratory for the Preparation of Biodegradable Packaging Material from Food and Agricultural Waste'.

Dr Ambarish C N, an assistant professor from the department of Biochemistry, is awarded a grant of Rs 3 lac under the Research Grant for Scientist/Faculty (RGS/F) for his research proposal titled 'Study on the Ecotoxicity Effect of Microplastics on Marine Fauna on the Coast of Karnataka'.

Dr Sana Sheik, an assistant professor from the department of Botany is awarded a grant of Rs 3 lac under Research Grant for Scientist/Faculty (RGS/F) for her research proposal titled 'Preparation and Characterization of Healthy and Fungal Infected Plant Extract Loaded Films for Potential Biomedical and Bio remedial Application'.

The management, principal and research cell of the college congratulated them for their achievements.
