Mangaluru: Man accused of peddling drugs arrested

Mangaluru, Sep 28: Muhammed Shaqir (35) resident of Soorinje near Suratkal, who was trying to sell drugs, was arrested by the city crime branch (CCB) police personnel. He was arrested on Sunday, September 27.

The police said that Shaqir is a drug peddler. They recovered assets worth over Rs 20,000 from his possession. In connection with drug abuse, dancer, Kishore Aman and Aqeel Nausheel have been arrested. Tarun Raj and Aska from Manipur, who have been accused of consuming drugs, have also been arrested. Among them, Aqeel and Kishore are in judicial custody. The CCB team has made five arrests so far relating to drugs racket.

Police sources said that actress and popular TV presenter, Anusharee, had been questioned on Saturday. They confirmed that she was not subjected to drug tests as normally this test is performed only in cases where people are taken into custody on the allegation of drug consumption.
