Bantwal: Vittal police arrest person in possession of red sandalwood

Bantwal, Sep 26: Vittal police station police arrested a person who was wandering suspiciously on Saturday September 26 at Vittla, Kasba, and in the possession of red sandalwood pieces in a plastic bag. The red sandalwood pieces were worth Rs 24,200 and weighed 12.100 kgs.

As he did not have a permit to carry them, he was detained and questioned. He was identified as Abbu Chapalla alias Ummar Farook, resident of Puttur Savanoor village. He had obtained them from a person named Sayyed.

A case under section 62, 80 and 144 of Karnataka Forest Act is registered at Vittal police station in this connection.
