Panaji, Sep 26: A day after openly defying the Covid-19 protocols, Ajit Panchwadkar, chief officer of Margao Municipal council (MMC) was transferred on Thursday, September 24.
Panchwadkar was replaced by Biju Naik, who was posted as director (administration), public works department.
The decision was taken after a video of Panchwadkar went viral in social media in which he is seen cutting cake without maintaining social distancing norms.
MMC chairperson, Pooja naik said that the decision of transfer came as a blessing for the people of Margao.
"Flouting of Covid guidelines by Panchwadkar on his birthday has done great harm to the council's image," Naik said.
