Raichur, Sep 26: A farmer from Gonawara village in Sindhanur taluk committed suicide on Friday September 25. He consumed insecticide. The victim has been identified as Manappa (48).
Manappa reportedly had borrowed from Syndicate Bank Jawalagera branch, State Bank of India Manvi and private lenders. As the yield of the crop was too meagre to meet his liabilities, he was overwhelmed, it is said.
The farmer, his family said, was distressed at the mounting liabilities. He is survived by his wife, two sons and a daughter.
