Dharwad: Three officials held on graft charges - In judicial custody

Dharwad, Sep 26: Three officials of the central excise and service tax office here were caught red-handed when accepting bribes. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) officials, who made these arrests, produced them before the designated CBI court here on Thursday. The court remanded them to judicial custody till September 30.

The arrested officials happen to be officer, Vaibhav Goel, superintendents, Suresh Jadagi and Mohan Kumar. It is said that the officials had demanded the payment bribe of Rs 20 lac for reduction of Goods and Services Tax liability of a Pan Masala company. Owner of the company, Rajalaxman, had complained to the CBI office at Bengaluru about the graft demand.

A CBI team accordingly arrived there. They conducted an operation in association with Anti Corruption Bureau officials and arrested the officials when the officials were receiving five lac rupees as part payment of the bribe.
