Mangaluru: Titular feast of the Holy Cross Church, Cordel held

Mangaluru, Sep 24: Titular feast of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross was celebrated on September 19 and 20 at Holy Cross Church, Cordel, Kulshekar.

Vespers was observed on Saturday September 19 at 5 pm with mass that was concelebrated by Fr Vijay Machado, director of Mangalajyothi of the diocese as the chief celebrant along with Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Fr Shawn Rodrigues and deacon Ronson Pinto.

In his homily, Fr Vijay Machado highlighted the significance of the Holy Cross in the lives of every believer during this difficult time of COVID-19 pandemic. He called upon the faithful to have faith in the Holy Cross on which our Lord sacrificed himself for all of us.



The solemn feast mass was celebrated on Sunday September 20 at 8 am at the Cordel Church hall observing the guidelines of the COVID-19 pandemic. It was concelebrated by Fr Walter D’Mello, judicial vicar of the diocese along with Fr Victor Machado, the parish priest of Holy Cross Church Cordel, Fr Lawrence Cutinha, Fr Shawn Rodrigues, assistant parish priests and deacon Ronson Pinto.

In his homily, Fr Walter D’Mello stressed on the importance of the Holy Cross in the lives of the faithful. He invited all the people to fix their gaze on the holy cross in good times and in bad. In spite of the torrential rain, the parishioners participated in the festal mass.

At the end, Fr Victor Machado greeted and thanked everyone who worked for the success of this feast.
