Saudi Arabia suspends flights from India due to rising Covid cases

Daijiworld Media Network - New Delhi (SD)

New Delhi, Sep 23: Due to the surge in coronavirus cases in India, the Saudi Arabia government has banned flights both to and fro from Tuesday, September 22.

The Saudi Arabia's general authority of civil aviation (GACA), in a circular issued on Tuesday said, ""suspending travel to and from the following countries: (India, Brazil and Argentina) including any person who has been in any of the mentioned countries above in the last 14 days prior to their arrival to the Kingdom", with the exception of passengers having official government invitations.

UAE and Saudi Arabia hold a significant size of Indian population in the Middle East.

Last week, the Dubai civil aviation authority (DCAA) had suspended Air India Express for 24 hours for carrying two Covid positive passengers.

According to the UAE government's rule, all Indians traveling the country must carry Covid-19 negative certificate of an RT-PCR test done within 96 hours prior to the journey.

Hong Kong has also banned Air India flights from Sunday after few passengers have tested positive until October 3, a senior official said.

India's total count has reached upto 56,46,010 with death toll mounting to 90,020 with 1,085 deaths in the last 24 hours as per the report of the health ministry on Wednesday.

Indian government totally failed to control corona. Also they screwed economy. Still we are proud of our PM and FM. What a pity. We are busy renaming roads just for votes. That is the priority.

Restaurants bars, malls are operating in full swing flouting all rules in tacit understanding with law enforcers; nobody is bothered!
Govt should not have given a nod to such places where people cried to avoid flareup of the virus!

Just visit any bar/restaurant & see who is maintaining social distance; all tables are full as before!

Roadside canteens have also started operations without any hindrance!

This situation is not going to improve any time soon

I don't blame the Saudis. It was bound to happen. India has totally failed in controling the COVID. Despite lockdowns and other measures taken by the government, we are nowhere near it. If India's neighbors can control it, why can't India?

Thomas, why don't you read news online? its mentioned that only India was recovery rate is higher than the increasing rate, don't you think that because of the huge population its impossible to control? instead of this population still, recovery case is high,, what's the problem with you people?

I wish you consider the infection rate than recovery rate. Nearly one lakh people per day are getting infected in India. Also don't consider the population. Pakistan and Bangladesh too have higher population. Though they have much less population than India's, their population density rate is not less than India's. In fact BD's population density is much higher than India's. I agree with you the recovery rate in India is higher. Also check the recovery rate in other countries as well as the active cases.

John, you comparing the Indian population with Pakistan and Bangladesh? do you know the difference? Indian population is 1,380,004,385 and Pakistan population is 220,892,340. now calculate between COVID case then you will come to know the exact result. 164,689,383 this is the Bangladesh population for your knowledge ok.

    Praveen,

Did you PERSONALLY see the recovery rate? Or it's only mouth say. Just as looks are deceptive so too the distortion in figures. In this jumlabaaz era, ear say is more than the eyes can see. Be realistic. You should have been in the Middle East at this time. You think the Middle East Airlines are fools to truncate flights too and fro. They give more credibility and take every single case on a TOP URGENT basis....irrespective of their nationality.

    Arun,

For your kind information, I am living in the middle east only (Sharjah). and do you personly see the increasing rate? your also calculating after seeing online statistics right? India is doing far better than in other countries. why don't you see that thing? this is the common flue and everyone should have commonsense that if it infects then within 14 days if you care yourself then it will go. everyone will get infected with this COVID.

Praveen, You don't need college degee to know the population of a country. Read my comments once again. Instead of considering the population, consider the DENSITY OF THE POPULATION. Also, while India gets one positive case for every 11 tests, Pakistan gets 1 case in every 50 to 55 tests. I just hope I made you clear.
