Puttur: Suicide attempt, feeding poison to children - Daughter dies

Puttur, Sep 22: Relating to the incident in which a woman who was living in the residence of a relative had consumed poison and also fed juice laced with poison to her two children, the woman's daughter, Anvita (8), breathed her last.

Divyashree, the wife of Raghunath from Sanjakkady in Paduvannur village, had consumed poison and also given it to her two children, a son and a daughter, on September 16. Divyashree reportedly was overwhelmed by the behaviour of her husband. After consuming poison, she had visited the family of a relative, Mamata in Mangaluru. The fact that the trio had consumed poison had come into the open there. Both the children were admitted into AJ Hospital here while Divyashree had been admitted into Wenlock Hospital. Ajay and Divyashree are recovering now.

 

An attempt to murder case stands registered against Divyashree in Sampya police station for purposefully poisoning her children. On the basis of Divyashree's statement, a case was registered against the husband Raghunath Sajamkady, for inflicting mental and physical harassment and torture to her, not giving money to maintain the family and living with some other woman.
