Mangaluru, Aug 30: President of Canara Industries group of companies and founder editor of Navabharatha daily, president and managing director of Canara Workshop Limited, Srinivas V Kudva passed away in his residence at Nanthoor in the city on the night of Saturday, August 29. He was 87.

Second son of the late V S Kudva, the founder of Canara Workshops Ltd, Srinivas Kudva was born in 1933. He did his schooling in Dongarakeri Canara education institute. He secured B Sc degree from St Aloysius College of the city and went to the USA for higher education and completed post-graduate engineering degree from Lehigh University.

After completing his studies, Srinivas Kudva joined as executive director of Canara Workshops. He used modern technology and improved the quality of Canara Springs produced by his company and played a vital role in increasing the demand for the same in the transport sector. He also served as president of Kanara Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KCCI). He also served as president of Rotary Club, Mangaluru Midtown.

Srinivas Kudva, who was a philanthropist and social worker. He had provided financial assistance to the development of Vijaya College in Mulky, which is his native place. In addition, he also extended financial aid to St Aloysius College from where he graduated. He encouraged many students by providing them scholarships.

Srinivas Kudva is survived by wife Sharada, two sons Premnath Kudva and Vasanth Kudva, two daughters Shaila and Neena and scores of admirers.

Well-wishers, relatives, personnel of Canara Workshop and CPC transport organization have expressed their condolences on the demise of Srinivas Kudva.
