New twist in Mysuru bishop case: Complainant claims allegations were made under duress

Mysuru, Aug 22: The case involving charges of sexual misconduct levelled against bishop of Mysore K A William has taken a new twist with the complainant approaching the police and claiming that the allegations were made under duress.

The complainant has lodged a fresh complaint with the NR police in Mysuru accusing 16 persons including several priests of bringing pressure upon her to level false allegations against the bishop and warning her of dire consequences if she failed to do their bidding. A copy of the complaint is with daijiworld.

Bishop K A William

While giving the bishop a clean chit, the complainant, in her nine-page complaint, has explained in detail the conspiracy hatched by the accused to tarnish the image of bishop William besides throwing light on the power struggle in the diocese.

The complainant said she had become a pawn in the hands of the disgruntled aspirants for the top post, who had resorted to unscrupulous and deceitful means to unseat Fr William from the bishop’s post.

The principal reason for targeting bishop William was his selection to the post of bishop of Mysore by the Pope, bypassing many senior priests and aspirants. The vested interests in the diocese had ganged up to replace Fr William with someone from their faction, she said.

A complaint of kidnapping, outraging the modesty of woman and issuing a life threat had been lodged against bishop William by Robert Rosario on behalf of the woman at Lashkar Mohalla Police Station on November 20, 2019 and a FIR had been filed in the regard on November 28, 2019.

She said that while working at the Catholic Centre in Bannimantap from 2013 to 2018, she was pestered by Fr Gilbert Aranha to lodge a complaint against Fr William, who took over as the bishop of Mysore in February 2017. As per the first complaint, bishop William, Fr Vijay Kumar and Anita Gomes, who is an accountant at Bishop’s House, among others, were behind the troubles caused to her. But in her latest complaint to the NR police, she said the charges were 'false'.

The complainant said she had given the same statement before the 2nd JMFC court on December 9, 2019 after which she was stalked by unidentified persons in vehicles and felt threatened. She said the threat to her and her family’s life was still there.

She said the group of 16 persons, who had forced her to level false allegations against the bishop last year, had robbed her of her peace of mind. She has complained against them under various sections of the IPC including 406, 506, 354D r/w 34, besides the Information Technology Act.

The persons named by the complainant include Fr Gilbert Aranha, Fr Becket D’Souza, Dr. Jerry Paes, Robert Rosario, Dolphy D Cunha, Richard D’Souza, Fr Jnanaprakash, Fr J Anthonappa, Fr Rohan, Fr Viet Martin, Melwyn Fernandes, Jerry Sequiera, Dr J S William Menezes, Violet Menezes, Geri D’Souza and Joseph Studor.

Reacting to the developments, bishop William said he was pained by the false charges levelled against him. Claiming that he was mentally harassed by these charges, the bishop said truth has to come out one day or other. Repeating a lie several times on various platforms will never make it true, he said.

I know beloved bishop from my childhood and we never heard anything like this instance...i can say...its all because of his hardwork and being holy and closed to heavenly father. God chose him and made him the bishop of mysore. All the Christians in mysore are really happy with our beloved bishop.

His highness have done many goods in mysore which we have seen like helping widows, helping poor people ,supporting Children in education and so many other things..highness have also increased the salary for teachers which was never done before
He belongs to a very good family, even though he was the only son in his family, his family surrendered him for the work for God. He always tries his best to keep everyone united and leading them to Gods path.

Finaly i can say...if the evil spirit try to destroy the Gods man , those evil men are going to fall in thier own Grave yard..we will never let our Highness down

My enemies trample on me all day long, for many attack me proudly. When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?

The almighty God's blessing is with the bishop.

Truth is always a clear vision.
Where are those dear friends now?who went on putting allegations on the bishop and other priests too as much as they can . People in Mysore have no problem but the people no where related to the diocese of Mysore and out of Karnataka are much more involved in this issue. This itself indicates that some blacksheeps of Mysore diocese
    1) for their selfish gains
    2)for their thirst of power
Not only tarnished the Shepherd of the diocese but also the innocent laity too.

The will to label will always prevail over whats being labeled, usually at the expense of either truth or understanding.
    All praise to God.

The truth has come to light.

We have known our bishop more closely since many years. We stand by our bishop as a family. He's done so much for our parish, society and the church. He has made remarkable achievements and has left a landmark in the history of the Cathedral church. His works speak louder than his words. A man of wisdom, who's determined and hard working, ever ready to take a step that brings glory to God. He's called as a task master. Always encourages people who are in different fields.

    All Praises to God.....
"No weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall confute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord and their vindication from me, declares the Lord.”

Disgusting to note false allegations. This has resulted in many straight forward religious heads undergo mental torture. If well educated people who hold the responsibility to teach others the good lesson viz ; love thy neighbour as thyself do not fullfill it then think of the least educated
who looks up to these educated to justify their deeds!

What is done in the dark will eventually come to light  as it is written.

Check the alleged lady's & her husband's bank account. If some Lakhs or crores are lying in their account then ask the source of Income.
If not last six months standard of living of the couple will also reveal a lot.
Cannot blame unless someone has got the proof .

    Desperation for Power and Money!
About God and Money, scriptures quotes:
No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and money.
