Bantwal: Carmel College Modankap organises online awareness programme on tobacco

Bantwal, Aug 15: Carmel College Modankap, in association with Indian Society and Lions Club, here organized an online awareness programme on 'Effect of Tobacco and Emphasis on Oral Cancer'.

The resource person, Dr Pooja Shetty, reader, Department of Public Health Dentistry AJ Institution of DentalSciences Mangaluru, delivered a lecture on tobacco, its various forms and the effects of second and third-hand smoke among people. She also gave detailed information about oral cancer, its types, basic symptoms and the tests available at present for diagnosis.

Students took part in the interactive session and cleared their misconceptions. Lion Shrinivas Poojary, zone president, Region 2 Lions District 317D, addressed the volunteers on tobacco and youth. The college principal Dr Sr Latha Fernandez AC in her presidential remarks highlighted on staying away from the bad things which will take away good health.

Madura K NSS programme officer, Carmel College Modankap, hosted this programme. Members of the Indian Cancer Society and Lion’s Club Bantwal were present.
