Mangaluru: St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu holds Vespers for our Lady of Assumption, prayer for nation

Media Release

Mangaluru, Aug 15: St Anthony’s Ashram Jeppu on Saturday August 15 held Vespers on the eve of the feast of our Lady of Assumption.

The director of the ashram Fr Onil D’Souza in his homily said that August 15 is a day of double joy for the Catholics in India. It is as though two incidents namely the feast of our Lady of Assumption and the day of Independence seem to be a coincidence. But in God’s wisdom, it is a planned incidence. The feast of Assumption of our Lady has a message to those who believe in her. Those who would like to be free need to be obedient to His will like Mother Mary. She always discerned the will of God and remained faithful to Him. As a reward for her commitment and faithful life, God assumed her body and soul to heaven. That is the greatest award any human being can aspire for. Fr D’Souza invited the faithful to imitate Mother Mary in discerning the will of God and walk in the footsteps of Jesus.

Fr Alban Rodrigues the administrator of the institutes led the devotion of the rosary. Each decade of the rosary was prayed for a particular need of the country. Vincent Fernandes of ‘ Mogachi Lahram’ conducted the choir. Fr Roshan D’Souza the assistant director of the ashram was present.
