Panaji: Base land rate revised after five years

Daijiworld Media Network - Panaji (SD)

Panaji, Aug 13: The minimum land rates were revised by the revenue department on Tuesday, August 11. The revised prices range from Rs 100 to 1000 per sq m. This would give additional revenue to the government by way of stamp duty and would come into effect from August 17 until March 31, 2021.

A senior official stated that the revised plan has come after nearly five years and it is just minimal and much below the actual land rate in various parts of the state terming it a 'mere ritual'.

It is reported that in January 2021, the rule of determination of the true market value of the property of 2003, is likely to be revised by 20 percent under the Goa stamp by the state government.

In 2016-17, the then chief minister Manohar Parrikar had tried to revise the base land rate which was reportedly thwarted by the builder's lobby, the official said.
