Mangaluru: Women on scooter miraculously escape after being run over by car

Daijiworld Media Network - Mangaluru (ANK)

Mangaluru, Aug 7: A lady escaped miraculously after scooter and car collided here at Kadri Kambala road on Friday, August 7.

The injured woman was identified as Vanishree hailing from BC road. She has been admitted to a private hospital.

It is said that MLA U T Khader was travelling on that route and took the injured in his vehicle to the hospital.

It may be recalled that last year at almost the same place, a teacher had lost her life following an auto and a lorry collision.

Why not go for a traffic signal, which may be the better option. There is no control of traffic at the junction due to speeding vehicles .

Here none understand the traffic principle, always preference given to main road traffic then the traffic joining from roads. In this Scooter driver was on main road Kadri Kambla Road & car driver should wait then cross. As per the Traffic Law, Car driver is the culprit here. Please mention Car driver name also when you mentioning the other driver name.

The woman did not slow down at the intersection and wanted to go past the car in a hurry. The car driver does not stop after hitting the woman. Both at fault.

I feel sorry for the Lady and wish her speedy recovery. But major mistake from the lady wanna overtake and cross the car.Two wheeler riders should be more careful in intersection.Should not blame only four wheeler riders all the time. Its every single riders responsible to slow down near intersections.

All vehicles on roads in our country need drastic training on usage of roads. We tend to blame everyone on the road except ourselves. It is amply clear that there is an intersection of four roads and all vehicles should cut down on speed and use better sense by just waiting for a bigger vehicle to pass . The scooter rider seems to be in a tearing hurry to cross and it is the same with so many two wheelers. They look to pass through even if it difficult for a cyclist.Since there was a CCTV, we could see that both are at fault . At this time where there is less traffic on roads, all need to be doubly careful.

One of the problem here is that there are no foot paths. A little difficult to comprehend, but the footpath ensures that there are no blind spots when a driver or rider comes to the intersection, etc. as there is a gap of 3 feet available to stop & then proceed. Additionally the corporation is at fault here as there are no markings on the road as to who has the right of way. Is there a dotted or a bold line marked on the road? It's all very well to say the car driver is at fault, the lady rider is at fault.. but it's time there are concrete steps to establish who has the right of way & who is really at fault. Please don't let the adhaa cops decide.

Both made mistake. Car driver was slow but he didn't apply break immediately. May be he got nervous. But I appreciate the immediate response of local people and Mr Khader is always there like an angel. Wishing her speedy recovery.

Per say, it's the fault of lady who was speeding on intersection, the car was at slow speed...Next the person who was trying to hit the front door on left side should be warned...he was trying to break the car...Appears the car driver could not see that the lady has gone under the car...Police will penalize car( big vehicle) for the fault of scooter lady...Thanks to Mr Khader for taking her to hospital.

The gravity of the accident is such that nobody would expect that the lady survived and admitted to hospital for treatment. All vehicles drivers always in a hurry while driving . Haste always leads to such accidents. Anyway thank God as no life lost.

The car guy was on extreme left . He was not concentration on the junction
Lady in the scooter should have been more cautiou on the junction ..
Where both had a mis judging
The care was sure more then 20km/ hr speed .
Where he should have been on 10km/ hr
Sometimes ladies driving with full covered helmets, plus mask pose a big danger .
They cant concentrate . They dont where they sometimes they drive on middle of the road posing danger to others
This place poses a danger .
So many accidents happening minor accidents happen .on this junction
But still co- operator / traffic police cant take a decession .
1)Need to put a nother speed breaker near ( more forward towards the junction)to junction
    2) need to put dividers on 4 sides as vechiles are seen coming extremely towards wrong side while taking a turn .
Signal will.not help as when signal.changes driver will rush to.pass the signal
So there should some good decession taken .
Traffic should be monitored anyone breaking the rules should taken serious action immediately

Oh my God. Hope the lady's condition is fine. There are speed-brakers on all the four sides, still this accident happened. The car driver was ruthless. Even after hitting the scooter he/she didnt stop the car. Thank you Mr. U. T. Khader for your timely help.

    Hats off to Mr. Khader.
If he was our health minister during this pandemic time, the measures he would have taken would have been ultimate.
And even the cases would have been very less.

When RAINS.. brakes takes little more time to control the vehicles.. .if snows/Icy roads.. it worst.
Solution: All that need is.. automated electric sign boards on the highways to show "DRIVE Slow or Face Fine"… in raining times only… that going to alert drivers properly..
