Udupi: Sea worshipped at Malpe for increase in ocean wealth

Udupi, Aug 3: Prayers were offered for an increase in ocean wealth at Malpe seashore on Monday morning, August 3 as per the annual tradition. MLA K Raghupathi Bhat also took part in the worship.

The prayers were held under the leadership of Malpe fishermen’s association. Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district cooperative fish marketing federation president Yashpal Suvarna was also an attendee in the programme.

Every year during the first two months of the rainy season the fishing ban is lifted and all the fishermen gather before entering the sea and pray for their protection while in the sea and increase in the wealth of the sea.



Fisheries, ports and water transport minister Kota Srinivas Poojary, MLA K Raghupathi Bhat, fishermen association president Krishna Suvarna and others were present.
