Recovery Rate increased from 30% to 70%, says Guj Minister

Gandhinagar, Jul 15 (IANS): Gujarat Health Minister Nitin Patel on Wednesday said that due to tireless efforts of the state government and public cooperation, the state has been able to increase its recovery rate for Covid-19 patients from 30 per cent to 70 per cent. He also said that the doubling rate of coronavirus infection has also stretched from 9 days to now 32 days.

Informing the media, Nitin Patel said, "When the state was hit by the coronavirus outbreak in March, April, the recovery rate of corona patients was just 30 per cent. But due to the efforts by the government, health workers, staff and also public cooperation, we have been able to increase it to now 70 per cent. Out of every hundred corona patients, 70 are completely recovering and being discharged. Till now, more than 30,550 patients have been discharged after getting treated in government hospitals."

"The coronavirus outbreak in the state is also curbed, even though the number of infected persons is increasing. Earlier, the number of infected persons used to double in just 9 days, now that doubling rate has been stretched to 32 days. The hard work put in for surveillance in Mohallas, societies, slums has paid off. Much credit for this also goes to the Dhanvantri Raths by the government," added Patel.

The Health Minister said that there are more than 325 Dhanvantari Raths operational in the state and the monitoring of these Raths was also available on the CM Dashboard at his residence in Gandhinagar from where he frequently gives guidance.

"The central government has also appreciated the use of Dhanvantari Raths and has recommended it to other states to follow and implement such kind of facilities in their areas. Almost everyday our core group meeting takes place to take stock of the situation and everyday we are taking certain steps regarding it. After curbing the outbreak in Ahmedabad, we are planning to use that experience to other districts in the state, as the number of cases are on the rise in these areas, especially after unlocking phases, which was expected," added Patel.

"Currently, we have a setup of a total of 42,051 isolation beds in government hospitals, where 10,377 are equipped with oxygen. Out of this, 3,250 are ICU beds. We have a total of 2,231 ventilators in government hospitals across the state. Right now there is not a single hospital which is not equipped with ventilator. We have a total of 4,910 teams of health officials from district level offices, municipality and municipal corporations, including ASHA workers and AYUSH doctors," added Patel.
