Holy Masses, religious services suspended for two weeks from July 15 in Udupi diocese

Udupi, Jul 15: Due to seal down of the borders in Udupi district, Holy Masses and other religious activities have been suspended from July 15 for two weeks.

In a circular, Udupi Bishop Dr Gerald Isaac Lobo said, “The District Administration of Udupi, through a circular has ordered the seal down of the district borders from 8 pm on July 15 to July 29, 2020. During this period, all religious gatherings and public celebrations are prohibited.

“Access to churches/ temples/ mosques is restricted only for private visits. No public worship or communitarian religious activity is permitted for the public.

“Hence, no communitarian religious activity including daily Mass, shall be held in the churches of Udupi diocese for the people till 29 July, 2020.

“Thereafter, we shall comply with the future directives of the district administration,” the bishop stated in the circular.
