Udupi, Jul 13: "No decision is taken yet on imposing lockdown in the district. The decision on locking down the district will be taken only after holding video conference with the CM by DC Jagadeesha. People are just getting back to normalcy economically and there is no need to lockdown the district," said MLA Raghupati Bhat.
Bhat further said, "I have already conveyed my opinion to district-in-charge minister and home minister Basavaraj Bommai. My opinion is that it is not right to lockdown the district at this stage. Though 1,000 cases of coronavirus infection are recorded in our district, most of them are people who have arrived into our district from other districts or states.
"Place those who come from Bengaluru under home quarantine. It is better to conduct business as usual in the district. People are just recovering economically. Locking down at this stage will cause more financial issue than coronavirus.
"Make social distance and wearing of mask mandatory for everyone. It is better to seal the borders of our districts,” he said.
