Pilot will not join BJP, reveal sources; but speaks with friend while incommunicado

New Delhi, Jul 13 (IANS): Amid the raging political crisis in Rajasthan and a catalogue of speculation, sources aware about the developments revealed that the Rajasthan's Deputy Chief Minister and state Congress President Sachin Pilot will not join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP).

Upset and angry over the sedition charges being levelled against him by the state special operations group (SOG), as one of his supporters said it was the proverbial straw that broke the camel's back, Pilot decided that enough was enough and made his move.

While in Delhi, Pilot reportedly had a telephonic conversation with former colleague turned BJP MP Jyotiraditya Scindia, on Sunday, said sources close to Scindia.

Pilot is reportedly furious that he and his supporters have been humiliated time and again by Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, moreover many of his supporting MLAs have been followed by CID and daily reports are filed by them with the CM's office on who they have met and spoken with. The SOG summons for questioning over allegations of destabilising the government has got Pilot's goat.

A clearer picture is likely to emerge over the next two days when Pilot comes out from his self-styled incommunicado status. Sources added that Pilot wants a middle ground needs to be found in Rajasthan by the Congress leadership, some sort of balancing act between the CM and his deputy. In the recent past, Congress sources averred that Pilot spoke to Ahmed Patel and K C Venugopal and mentioned how he has been humiliated virtually daily by the CM.

Meanwhile, sources who could not confirm what the two leaders - Pilot and Scindia - spoke about, added, "The two have worked together for years. But ever since Scindia joined the BJP along with his supporters, both Pilot and Scindia have been in regular telephonic contact."

On Sunday, Scindia came out in support of Pilot, alleging the Rajasthan Chief Minister had "persecuted" his deputy. In a tweet that further intensified speculations about Sachin Pilot's future in the Congress, Scindia said, "Sad to see my erstwhile colleague, Sachin Pilot too, being sidelined and persecuted by Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot. Shows that talent and capability find little credence in the Congress."

On Sunday late evening, after they spoke over the phone, Pilot asserted that he will not attend the legislative party meeting scheduled to be held on Monday morning and has openly announced that the Ashok Gehlot-led government in the state is in minority after over 30 Congress and some Independent MLAs pledged support to him.

Pilot, upset at being summoned by the police of his own government, came to Delhi to meet interim Congress chief Sonia Gandhi. However, he received no communication from the party leadership.

Meanwhile, Gehlot, sources said, has apprised Sonia Gandhi, Rajasthan party affairs incharge Avinash Pandey, and Congress General Secretary (Organisation) K.C. Venugopal of the developments in the state.

But Pilot's brazen defiance of Gehlot and a telephone conversation with BJP Leader Jyotiraditya Scindia has left the Congress wary.

I believe Deputy Chief Minister Sachin Pilot will not hurt the soul of his father Rajesh Pilot who is much respected in the Congress and worked for the people of his region and the nation as the minister.
As young blood he need 'Develop a Temper to Listen'. Any aggressive move will give him short term gain but long term pain.
At the age of 42 years Sachin Pilot is too lucky to be Deputy Chief Minister that even in BJP he can't expect. He need to understand to reach to the masters he needs to complete the lower grades first. Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot is at the 69 is obviously much experienced and by default Pilot will be next CM in waiting.
Instead of draining his tempers he need to wait with patience will bring more rewards.

If he follows in the foot step of Junior Scindia, then he should realize that his ancestors once betrayed Jhansi Laxmi Bai and Marthas in favor of British one day they will punish for his betryals.

No way man. Scindia has so much money that he can buy half of Madhya Pradesh. Despite being the architect of MP Victory he was sidelined by the Antanio Maino knowing that one day he would outshine the national comedian Pappu.
Its high time that Cong and its chelas introspect, why are Himanta Biswa, Scindia, Sachin Pilot, Milind Deora sidelined and demoted , while 70 plus leaders like Kamalnath, Ghelot, Digvijaya are given prominence? Are they afraid that these young turks may outshine Pappu?

I am really sad to see a country in one unopposed political party. It is really scary. Absolute power in a democracy is nothing but an autocracy!

Humiliating and being disrespectful to senior party leaders is BJP culture. The best example is Lal Krishna advani. Congress endorses the achievement of young leaders, at the same time importance is given to senior leaders who worked for the party for decades.

    Vijay Benedict,

Scindia has so much money that he can buy half of Madhya Pradesh...........?

If this is true, why you are blaming Nehru Gandhi family of corruption. They were born rich and have enough money to feed generations. They also donated some of their properties to the government. Why they require more money as they leading simple life?

If you talk of international comedian Feku, he was telling that he used to very simple life but now leading the elite life having imported material and imported mushroom for food.

With your theory please tell me who can be corrupt?

I feel sad for Sachin Pilot. A young and dynamic leader. It was due to him that Cong won Rajasthan and what does he get in return. ?
Congress synonym is Gandhi family so Gandhi’s can’t tolerate someone else becoming strong leader who can outshine Rahul Gandhi.

Indian National Congress Party never encourage younger leadership. They need only old guard. The thinking process of the party still stuck to 1970s. There are few examples. 1) The Present CM of Pondichery who was in National politics suddenly jumped to State politics when they won the elections and became CM. 2) Mr. Scindia was extensively traveled all our his state and succeeded in bringing Congress to power. Kamalnath was busy in his business suddenly appeared and became CM of MP. 3) As a PCC Chief of Rajasthan Mr. Sachin was the main reason to bring Congress to power. Then this Ghelot was made CM.

Here in Karnataka we wish good luck to Mr. Shikumar hope the congress party will spare him .

I agree with you. They dont even learn from their opposition .RaGa has been given enough chances in since 2014 . In 2019 he was given a safe constituency in Kerala only for survival when he was sure of being ousted in his family Amethi for non performance. The oldies of Cong should voluntarily come forward and make way for youngsters. But these greedy old hags wont let that happen and cling to power. I read somewhere that in BJP party an elderly lady candidate in Bangalore made way for a young dynamic and hungry candidate Surya , who is now an MP. The Cong grandfathers should learn from this.
