Karkala: Two booked for raping minor girl on different occasions

Karkala, Jul 11: The police on Friday July 10, registered cases against two persons under the provisions of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO) on the charge of raping a minor girl on different occasions. The victim is from Kalya village.

It has been alleged that on April 23, 2019, Prakash Shetty, who happens to be the son of the victim's elder sister, raped the girl. Pradeep Achary from Nitte Kemmannu reportedly raped her on three occasions inside a thicket attached to his residence and an auto rickshaw during November and December, 2019. The girl has turned pregnant now.

The Karkala rural police, who have registered these cases, have arrested both the accused.

    whether it is a civil law or criminal law, the consent of a minor is not treated as valid consent. A minor girl can be easily lured into giving consent for sexual intercourse without understanding the implications thereof.

    Even when a girl below 18 years gives her consent, the other partner in the sexual act is treated as a criminal who has committed the offence of rape. The law leaves no choice to him and he cannot plead that the act was consensual,”

    Yogi Udipi,even a younger girl gives her consent for a sex,she is still a minor,and it is under law is prohibited and a man is a elder ,then person who is above 18years ,should deny it.usually she is protected from law.Stil rape is crime whether one is minor or not.It should be punished.He is a person from own family and he took misused his position.Shame on him.
