Kundapur, Jul 10: A stray gaur which had fallen in a well was rescued successfully with the help of locals and forest officials.

The incident took place on Friday, July 10, where the gaur was found inside the well belonging to Ulloor resident Shivarama Shetty. 

Due to the dedicated efforts by the authorities, the gaur was rescued safely. The officials reportedly had a tough time lifting the animal out of the well. However, once it was pulled out, they let it free into the forest.

The 12-year-old female gaur had accidentally slipped and fallen deep inside the well earlier in the day. Although the animal tried to get out, it was unsuccessful because of the depth of the well.

The rescue efforts involved, the locals and forest officials digging a canal with the help of a JCB. The authorities then tied ropes to it on both the sides and lifted the animal. As the forest was nearby, the rescued gaur was let free into the forest.
