Mangaluru: Coastal Karnataka registers good rainfall

Mangaluru, Jul 10: Monsoon has intensified in coastal Karnataka. On Thursday, July 9, most parts of Dakshina Kannada and Udupi district experienced torrential downpour with frequent spaces in between.

Good rainfall occurred at Puttur, Beltangady, Venoor, Bantwal, Vitla, Sullia, Udupi, Malpe etc with frequent intervals. Sea waves were also in full flourish.

The period ended at 8.30 am on Thursday and Kadra in Uttara Kannada district got 17 cm rainfall, which was the highest in the state. Kadra also found its name listed among the areas with the highest rainfall, having been placed at second spot at the national level behind Cherrapunji (23 cm). Most places in Uttara Kannada and ghat sections of Shivamogga district recorded rainfall between seven to 10 cm. The city got five cm rain.

As per predictions till Saturday morning, most parts of the coast are expected to get good rainfall. The meteorological department has issued an orange alert on July 10 and yellow alert from July 11 to 14 in the coast and south interior Karnataka.
