Udupi: Two get 20-year jail terms for sexually harassing minor girl

Udupi, Jul 10: In a case of sexually harassing a minor girl, a court here, on Thursday July 9, awarded 20 years of rigorous imprisonment apart from imposing a fine of Rs 60,000 to two persons.

The accused in the case, Glen Mathias and Suhail have been held guilty of the charges. They were charged with forcing a girl to consume liquor and then committing sexual atrocity on her in a Manipal lodge. The girl's mother had complained to the Manipal police station about the crime.

The then inspector of Manipal police station, Sudarshan, had investigated the case and filed charge sheet in the court. Judge of the additional district and sessions court here, Valnamla Anand Rao, who heard the case, delivered the verdict. The prosecution was represented by district special public prosecutor Y T Raghavendra. The hearing was conducted through video conferencing facility.
