Cong, BJP spat on foundations' funding

New Delhi, Jul 9 (IANS): After the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday set up an inter-ministerial committee to probe various alleged violations of legal provisions by the Gandhi family-run Rajiv Gandhi Foundation, Rajiv Gandhi Charitable Trust and Indira Gandhi Memorial Trust, the verbal sparring between the two sides has escalated.

Former Union minister P. Chidambaram said that Congress party is not going to bow down as "Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi lived a life without fear. They faced death in the eye without fear. Both taught us that it is important to live and work fearlessly. And that is how we will face the ‘witch hunt' by the Modi government."

The Congress in a statement has also dragged the name of foundations related to the BJP and raised doubts over Vivekananda Foundation, India Foundation linked to the BJP and also named RSS.

The Congress challenged the Modi government to hold a similar enquiry into the donations and the amounts received by the Vivekananda Foundation and the India Foundation (and other such foundations) from all sources including foreign sources, individuals, entities, organisations and governments.

Not only these but the Congress also demanded an enquiry into the donations and the amounts received by Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) from all sources including foreign ones.

The party also asked the government to reveal the funding of Overseas Friends of BJP (OF-BJP) and asked for an investigation into the connection of Shri Rajkumar Naraindas Sabnani alias Raju Sabnani to OF-BJP.

The BJP has maintained that the formation of inter-ministerial committee is no witch hunt but to maintain transparency.

"Nation is watching keenly to know about RGF....GOI & MHA has taken a right decision, keeping the high regard for transparency and probity," tweeted BJP leader P. Murlidhar Rao.

Do you know the size of Aksai Chin?. if you do not know it is 37244 KM. Was there any attempt to regain our lost Land since 1962?. Why that was made a status quo?. Why did India not attempt any military action against China?. Congress very well know about China that is why they did not attempt to create any roads or bridges near the border?

Nothing but a witchhunt by the BJP after the serious exposure by the Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi on the details of funds received by the PM Cares Fund. "Why has PM Modi received Chinese money in the PM-CARES fund, despite the overt Chinese hostilities? Has PM received Rs 7 crore from the controversial company Huawei ? Does Huawei have a direct connection with People's Liberation Army of China? Has the Chinese company owning TikTok facilitated a donation of Rs 30 crore to the controversial PM CARES Fund?" The Congress has also asked if Paytm, which has 38 per cent Chinese ownership, given Rs 100 crore, Oppo 1 crore and Xiomi Rs 15 crore in the fund.

What about doubts over Vivekananda Foundation, India Foundation linked to the BJP and also the funds received by the RSS both from within the country and from Abroad. But you have to be 'exposed fully', you are not asking similar questions to any holy cows, like the Vivekananda Foundation, India Foundation, the Overseas Friends of the BJP and for that matter the RSS," said Singhvi.

Include all these funds that the Congress has raised against the PM Cares Fund and the Holy Cows above and then only will you be considered as Fair and Transparent. Also include the electrol Bonds and the country would like to know the names of all Donors to all political parties and the ammounts.

Why one sided Amt Shah's inter ministerial meeting????... This investigation is not transparent without any credibility except just an eye wash. There are courts, JPC and investigation agencies to do the job. Congress has agreed for any kind of investigation but BJP is making only big noise and holding fake meetings of its own ministers just for media headlines. BJP's big noise and big show is not big enough to hide its frauds, loot and corruptions.
