Record 54 deaths, over 2,000 coronavirus cases take Karnataka tally to 28,877

Bengaluru, July 8 (IANS): Karnataka registered a record 2,062 Covid positive cases, more than half of which emerged from Bengaluru, raising the state's tally to 28,877, even as a record 54 people succumbed to the virus, health officials said on Wednesday.

"New cases reported from Tuesday 5 p.m. to Wednesday 5 p.m., 2,062," said a health official.

As many as 1,148 or 56 per cent of the cases surfaced in Bengaluru alone, the southern state's Covid pandemic ground zero.

Overall, the city accounts for 10,103 or 61 per cent of all the active cases in the state.

Among the new cases, excluding Bengaluru, Daskshina Kannada accounted for 183 infections, followed by Dharwad (89), Kalaburagi (66), Ballari and Mysuru (59 each) and Bengaluru Rural (37) among others.

On a positive note, record 778 patients got discharged, increasing the total discharges to 11,876.

However, total number of cases in ICU rose to 452.

Though the total number of cases in Karnataka escalated to 28,877, active cases stood at 16,527 and total deaths increased to 470.

    IMHO, I have been shouting that this is an "airborne infection" & nobody is protected unless he sits in a "sealed capsule"!!

    Antony Waste collects all the waste from houses, buildings in Mangalore. I pray for them and salute them .

    None of the staff wear PPE, few wear gloves, some wear masks, below the chin and touch it all around repeatedly , sanitizers-I doubt.

    Yet not a single death or major adverse event that I know of.Probably they have immunity/cross immunity.They are the real corona warriors,and that too frontline warriors.It is not anything else but immunity (and vaccine if produced quickly) that will give protection.

    Being a blind bhakth, I am sure you will see my comment here. This is response to your comment about UK, Italy, Spain.
    1. People of Italy caught unaware of this as early as January.
    2. People from these countries goes on holidays including on cruise ship. The first biggest causalities from Covid was in Diamond Princess and other notable infection came from Ruby Princess. None of the passengers in these cruise ship were Indians.
    3. In UK and USA, they do have a friend of your beloved leader, who asks them to clap hands. Also arrogant to dismiss Covid as nasty flu.
    4. First Covid case reported in India on the 30th of January. By this time Italy had thousand as with hundred deaths already. India did had that golden opportunity to lock the borders but your leader was busy with Namaste Trump and buying MLAs.
    5. Even when the time to lock down came (after repeated demand from Congress), it forced overnight rendering millions of poor labours helpless.
    6. Thanks for accepting that the healthcare in those countries better than India. I thought for blind bhakths, we are the greatest in everything. Covid does not have established treatment, so, the healthcare sector can do only so much. Those countries also have bigger population of elderly people who also live together in a retirement village, age care home. So, if anyone infected in those facility, death rate would be high.
    7. As of today, India's testing rate per million population is 7,588. The next nearest on top 10 is Mexico with 5.184. Even Peru have better numbers 55,864. In Russia, it stands at 1,49,317. Are you aware of it?? Apparently, Modi is not in Russia or Peru who are testing aggressively.

    Ponkra- there is no pride in testing more number of people per million. These metrics are shown by some uneducated people. There is no point to prove here. Because person testing negative today can get infected tomorrow or day after tomorrow. So whenever symptoms appears, then they should be tested and testing should happen immediately for them and results should be made available same day.
    So getting more negative results of no use, since you are wasting only resources. On the other hand people should be educated so that infected people do not mingle with others and they help in breaking chain. That is more important now.. there is no point in fighting regarding numbers etc.

    Sri, if you don't test asymptomatic patients, then they will spread it to other people unknowingly. Do more random testing. That way they'll find out more clusters.

    You mentioned about infected people not mingling with others. How will an asymptomatic or presymptomatic patient know he is infected without testing

    Sri_E, As Sp noted, a big number of people who are positive are asymptomatic. The only way to find positive patients is by testing but ideally that testing has to be random. The problem is that is difficult for a country like India with the population density we have. So, we have to have random testing which helps to separate the positive but asymptomatic patients from others and isolate them.

    Many scientists say Covid 19 is airborne. Communist china, left leaning WHO... seems purposely hid info that virus is airborne so people go for lockdown again and again to ruin the economy instead of herd immunity. China brainwashed world with their lockdowns. They had been doing research on biological weapons. Definitely they must be having cure but seems fooling the world for their agenda of bringing down economy and to increase their hold on other countries economically and later militarily.

    Since it is airborne social distance, mask mostly of little use. One needs to put ppe suit till virus gets vanished. Communist chinese idea of social distance is seems for
    preparing to identify who all got vaccination in future, when vaccine is ready, (or they may have stock already) for the virus who is not, through vaccinated info barcode placed on them and capture it through camera scanners. As, if stood closely, it may not detect correctly, need to maintain social distance for it. This vaccine check seems mainly for enable traveling and for doing business. Again for forceful vaccination! With this vaccination what evil communist chinese planned God only knows.

    All this communist cunning plan seems to ruin economy first and then invasion policy.

    It has been prophesied God would fix China and Russia with powerful earthquakes at an appropriate time

    its your call to calculate death % with respect to infected people.

    calculate death % from infected people and tell.

    also please tell me how many days given to people before announcing Emergency in country?

    I am not an astrologist. But the way Indian Central and State governments playing dirty politics, almost 25% of Indians will die. It will break the American record too.
    Essential everyone must follow: Do not believe in any sort of blind faith. Do not take self-prescription for any illness. Washing hands with soap and warm water are the best way to keep the COVID virus away. Avoid any sort of unnecessary travel, face to face communication, social gathering, and always wear your mask. Regularly wash your cloth masks. Drink a lot of water [2 liters of water]. Do not smoke, take sugar, alcohol, have a balanced diet, and sound sleep.
