Kapil Sibal calls vaccine availability by August 15 'unscientific gaffe'

New Delhi, Jul 6: After the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) made the announcement of the availability of the coronavirus vaccine by August 15, Congress leader Kapil Sibal took to Twitter to express his views on the same.

Sibal openly referred to the announcement news as an 'unscientific gaffe'. Looking down upon the claim by ICMR, Sibbal wrote, "Unscientific gaffes: ICMR claim: COVID-19 vaccine by August 15. Mahabharat over in 18 days; wait 21 days and this was will be won. Chants of: Carona go, Caron go... Cow dung cures cancer. Ganesh's head: miracle of surgery. Such mindsets can never provide solutions."

Earlier, a letter by Balram Bhargava, director general of ICMR, was released where Bharat Biotech and principal investigators of medical colleges were required to complete the trial procedure of indigenous COVID-19 vaccine in a fast track manner, so that results of the clinical trial could be launched by August 15.

The vaccine - Covaxin which has been created by Bharat Biotech had recently received a nod for the clinical trial. Over 12 institutes were asked by ICMR to fast track clinical trials of the vaccine and consider it as the topmost priority project that is being monitored by the government.

    people pray let this disease fgo ..seems he is not happy. when lock down done his party people encourages people to come out to go to native place. supporting tabligues. and daily so many comments against government.

    Current pandemic never been experienced by human history. By protocol of vaccine preparation the vaccine has to go various trials and tested for a specific time period to check the side effects of the vaccine.
    Normally it will take at least 3 to 4 years to get the vaccine results and publish it in medical journal. However due to current situation entire world medical fraternity cutting short the time of trials, and try to publish the results as early as possible from where all related scintists will study the published article with pros and cons and then Govt give the permission to mass production. Therefore giving target dates of vaccine is foolishness and unscientific

    Everybody wants the vaccine to be ready at the earliest. But as per medical experts there is a protocol which needs to be followed during such trials and it is a long drawn process. Internationally some companies are in the advanced stage of trials and even they claim that vaccine may be ready only by December 2020.

    India is yet to start the trials and it is unlikely that the vaccine will be ready by August 2020 unless some of the protocols are bypassed. Important thing is vaccine is required but it should be after proper trials. There should not be any pressure to cut short the trial process. This vaccine is to save the people from pandemic and country do not want another crisis because of problem with vaccine.

    Hope our leaders understand this seriousness before the vaccine is released for treatment.

    this guy is lawyer..every one knows what kind of lawyer he is ...how lawyer can comment on ICMR efforts of vaccine trial..do he knows when vaccine marathon started , its stages and in which stage its now!..these idiots are out there for only create issues, controversy & propganada.. india is producing 60% of worlds vaccine ..let ICMR work, it will be proud if we succeed in first vaccine..
