Bengaluru: CM promises Rs 5 cr for Ambarish Memorial project in Kanteerava Studios

Bengaluru, Jun 29: Chief minister, B S Yediyurappa has promised a grant of Rs 5 crore from the state government for building a memorial for Kannada cinema actor and former union minister, Ambarish in the government-owned Sri Kanteerava Studio premises.

The memorial project is to be built in an area of 1 acre 34 gunta land in the Sri Kanteerava Studio premises.

The Chief minister, who presided over the first meeting of the high level meeting of the Ambarish Memorial Foundation, asked the foundation to expedite the action plan for the project.

Yediyurappa suggested that a sub-committee be constituted under the chairmanship of Kannada and Culture and Information Department Secretary to prepare the plans and finalise other details.

BJP-supported independent MP, Sumalatha Ambarish and her son Abhishek Ambarish, film producer Rockline Venkatesh, veteran actor, Doddanna, Kannada and Culture and Information Department Secretary, M Maheshwara Rao, Information and Publicity Department Commissioner, Dr P S Harsha and others attended the meeting.

Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce President, N Jairaj was also present.

    On a serious note... is it required??? understand he is a film star and has done a wonderful job behind the screen. BUT he isn't a freedom fighter. makes no sense.. that's my point of view.
