Modi destroyed India's position, betrayed Army: Rahul

New Delhi, Jun 23 (IANS): Accusing Prime Minister Narendra Modi of destroying India's position and betraying the Indian Army by admitting that China did not occupy Indian land, former Congress President Rahul Gandhi on Tuesday once again launched a scathing attack on the government over the India-China Line of Actual Control (LAC) face- off. He said that China cannot be permitted to get away with this "unacceptable usurpation" of India's land.

Speaking at the Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting, the party's highest decision making body, Rahul Gandhi said, "China has brazenly occupied our territory. The Prime Minister has destroyed our position and betrayed our army by accepting their position that they occupied no Indian land. The Chinese cannot be permitted to get away with this unacceptable usurpation of our land," he said, adding that everything needs to be done to ensure that the sacrifice of our martyrs is not in vain.

His remarks came after the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) on Saturday said that Modi was clear that India would respond firmly to any transgression attempts at the LAC.

The PMO said that "attempts are being made in some quarters to give a mischievous interpretation" to his remarks at the All-Party Meeting (APM) held on Friday on the Galwan stand-off and the killing of 20 Indian soldiers by the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) troops on June 14-15 night.

The Prime Minister's Office said the PM had specifically emphasized that Indian forces now decisively counter any violations on the LAC (unhe rokte hain, unhe tokte hain) in contrast to the past neglect of such challenges.

Hitting out at the government, the Congress MP from Kerala's Wayanad said, "One reason why China has acted is a complete and total failure of foreign policy." He said the established institutional structure of "diplomacy" has been demolished by the Prime Minister. "Our relations with our once friendly neighbours lie in tatters. Our time tested relationship with our traditional allies has been interrupted. India should build a good relationship with the US and others countries and must also maintain good relations with its old friends," he added.

The CWC meeting comes in the wake of the all-party meeting convened by the Prime Minister last week. India and China are engaged in a diplomatic resolution of the stand-off while Nepal on June 13 unanimously adopted the Constitution Amendment Bill, paving the way for accommodating the updated political-administrative map in the national emblem which includes the Indian areas of Kalapani, Lipulekh and Limpiyadhura.

No one from the public or the government is listening to Rahul Gandhi or Sonia Gandhi. Both of them should not be in active politics anymore.

Even if they are correct or right, the public looks other way round and choose to elect their favorite leaders.

They should let the other leaders from congress to make the comments on such subjects. Let us see how effective the other congress leaders are.

I don't know if smr agrees.

Modi's 'No Incursion' statement applauding PLA which is appreciated by China and praised Modi has severely damaged our army's image and has insulted our jawan's valour and ultimate sacrifices. With this statement he has betrayed our army and left them disoriented like soldiers without a commander. If there was no incursion by Chinese then with whom our jawans were fighting which resulted in bloodbath and killing of our soldiers.

Never in the history of India our proud army is blamed for conflict. But it is 'Aaj Tak' has made our own forces new villain of the Chinese incursion.

Today even Chinese media and countries defense are praising PM Modi for his 'no incursion' statement. Their media is even saying peaceful surrender of India against the powerful China.

It is time to boycott those who compromised the nations integrity. Those who have sold India with Chinese investment. For those who compromised the national security awarding contract to China in defense and telecommunication and building infrastructure.

The PM Modi's 'Skill India' is now became 'Made in China'.

    smra,
Don't comment only on Chinese media perspective, read the below U.S. Intelligence assessment-

The U.S. Intelligence has found that Gen. Zhao Zongqi, head of the Western Theater Command and a part of the People’s Liberation Army, gave the authorization to the Chinese army for the attack. The information was confirmed by a source familiar with the U.S. Intelligence assessment on the condition of anonymity.

Zhao, who has witnessed and experienced the previous standoffs between China and India, had previously said that his country must not appear weak to avoid any kind of exploitation by the U.S. or any of its allies.

He also saw the Galwan valley clash between as an opportunity to "teach India a lesson."

The incident which took place last week has escalated tensions between the two Asian nations. The death of as many as 20 Indian soldiers has also sparked a series of protests against China, with people calling for a ban on Chinese products in the country.

The clash is also said to have left about 35 Chinese troops dead. A few troops were captured and detained on both sides, which were later released upon discussions between the foreign ministries of both the countries.

The report by the U.S. Intelligence suggests that the clash did not result because of increasing existing tensions between the two countries in the border region as what has happened before. Rather, it resulted due to a calculated decision taken by Beijing to show their strength to India.

However, the plan seems to have backfired now. It is anticipated that China’s action will only end up bringing India closer to the U.S. and its allies, who are already furious on China over the coronavirus pandemic.

"It does the very opposite of what China wanted," the source said. "This is not a victory for China's military."

Look at the world NOT from your position but look at the world from YOUR position. The late Arun Jaitley had commented once "How much will he know, when will he know" a few years back. Seems RaGa has never tried to understand how the indian public think about him! If he continues this way, Rest assured Modi will continue as PM till 2029..

Yes he did, no surprise genius. Where are you and the opposition? When modi was in opposition he used to protest even for a 1 rupee hike in fuel price. Now see the recent hike, china land grab, sinking rupee and economy, demonetization, bad GST, communal violence...etc. you guys are letting him get away with anything. Instead of finding the right leadership in your party or merging with other stronger and able candidates your internal party problems are destroying you. Protest for the nation rahul, reach grass root level people, get on the streets you can't do this online
