Dubai, Jun 23: Dubai's education regulator, Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) have confirmed in its website that schools and universities would be allowed to open and operate from the start of 2020-21 academic year.

The authority said that the educational institutions would be allowed on-campus classes if they comply with specific health and safety protocols and ruled out any fees hikes for the next academic year.

KDHA said, "Schools in Dubai differ in terms of size, location, and a number of students. In order to comply with health and safety guidelines, schools may choose models that best suit their circumstances and committee."

The models according to KDHA could include; being open to students all the time, continuing to do distance learning part-time, scheduling lessons in staggered shifts, and other creative solutions.

The authority said that the schools could consult with the parents, teachers, and students while considering the best model for them.

The announcement was made after the Ministry of Education issued sets of guidelines on the possibility of reopening educational institutes for the next academic year in September.
