Udupi, Jun 6: “Though the government has permitted to open temples after June 8, visits to Udupi Sri Krishna temple will be allowed only after 20 or 30 days,” said Udupi paryaya, Adamaru math junior seer Ishapriya Theertha Swamiji.

“People are suffering due to corona pandemic. The government, health department and the police departments are doing excellent work to curb its spread. The decision to open the temple will be informed after observing the next 20 to 30 days.”

“People from Bengaluru and other places have prepared to visit the temple. The decision is taken to protect the health of the devotees and our staff. Nearly 150 people are employed in the math. We have continued to pay their salaries every month. Meanwhile pujas and religious rituals are being held in order to maintain tradition. We will take a decision after watching the situation. Meals are also being served to the health department and the employees by the math,” said the junior seer.

Earlier we could have Darshan through the TV monitors kept outside the tenple, which is no longer there. Maybe restoring that and live telcast from the temple may reduce some traffic at the temple premises
