Udupi: Use of obscene language - Stringer held, released on bail

Udupi, Jun 2: Sampat Nayak, a stringer, was arrested by the cyber station police here on Monday June 1. He was arrested on the basis of complaint about using vulgar word against a married woman living with her husband and children in social media and obstruction from discharging duties.

Muraleedhiar Prabhu, senior faculty of Karkala government PU College, had filed complaint in Karkala town police station against three persons including Sampat. In the case, Sampat was cited as having used obscene word in a WhatsApp group from Karkala. Based on the complaint, the cyber police here arrested the accused. He has been granted conditional bail.

Manager of Kannada Prabha has said in a publication that the said stringer has been dismissed from service with immediate effect and the newspaper management will not be responsible if anyone deals with him in connection with the newspaper.
