Bengaluru: Heavy rains - Yellow alert sounded in eight districts including DK, Udupi

Bengaluru, May 31: Heavy rains lashed on the nights of Friday May 29 and Saturday May 30 in several districts of the state. Yellow alert has been sounded in eight districts, including Dakshina Kannada and Udupi.

Wind at a speed of 30 to 40 km per hour is expected to be blown along with thunder, lightning and rain on May 31 and June 1 in coastal belt and south interior parts of the state, according to the weather forecast by meteorological department.

Yellow alert has been sounded in Dakshina Kannada, Uttara Kannada, Udupi, Chamarajnagar, Chikkamagalur, Hassan, Kodagu, Mysuru and Shivamogga districts till June 1. North Interior Karnataka will receive heavy rains on June 2 according to the weather forecast.

One woman died in Badami on the evening of Saturday May 30 after being struck lightning. Her children who were with her during the incident escaped unhurt. A house collapsed in Raichur and water gushed into more than 40 houses in low lying area.
