As the popularity of online gambling spreads across the world, people in more and more countries are starting to enjoy all kinds of games from roulette to blackjack and baccarat to slots.

In fact, it’s the latter that are especially popular with players who love the excitement of the spinning reels, the unpredictability of the jackpots and, above all, the themes of their favorite games. But that’s hardly surprising. Ever since they were invented way back in the 19th century by an American electrical engineer called Charles August Fey, slots games have always been a big hit.

Whereas Fey’s original machine, called The Liberty Bell, was very basic with just three reels and a jackpot of 50 cents, today’s games are super sophisticated. They also come with an almost limitless number of themes, each one designed to appeal to a particular group of players or demographic.

For example, many of the titles aimed at women players are quite similar in design and theme to games like the Candy Crush Saga or feature films and TV shows like Sex and the City.

Of more general appeal, lots of slots also feature ancient civilizations from the Aztecs with their hidden cities of gold like El Dorado, to Ancient Egypt where players try to win a share in the Pharaoh’s legendary riches. But one culture that has yet to be particularly represented in the online slots world is Indian.

Admittedly, the best top rated online casino platforms do feature a few titles that are definitely influenced by the country. These include Tiger’s Claw and Heart of the Jungle, but there are also many more games that give other countries greater prominence such as Chinese Kitchen and Glory and Britannia. But with such a rich heritage and so many cultural traditions in India, surely it’s time for a few more slots games to reflect these in their theme?

For example, the Taj Mahal must be one of the most famous and iconic tourist destinations in the world. So, surely, it’s crying out for a slots game called something like Treasures of the Taj Mahal to be invented.

Or, with the success of other film slots, the great spectacle of Bollywood movies would make an equally thrilling subject for slot games. This could either be themed around a specific movie or star, or be a generic game taking in all the spectacle as well as the dramatic soundtrack of the movies to create a genuinely thrilling game.

Last, but by no means least, there’s the country’s love of cricket. This would make the perfect partner to the many football-based slots now available and would certainly appeal to the estimated billion fans of the game in India.

So these are three great ideas for the slots developers and online casinos to get working on straight away. Of course, we’ve really only scratched the surface and there must be plenty more possibilities too. And, with the growing popularity of online slots in India, it may not be too long until we start to see at least some of them become reality.
