Bengaluru: Temples under Muzrai department likely to open from June 1

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SHP)

Bengaluru, May 26: With more relaxations allowed under Lockdown 4.0, the Karnataka government hinted at the reopening of temples and other religious places of worship from June 1. The temples, therefore, allowed to reopen after the lockdown ends on May 31 are those coming under the Muzrai department. The decision was taken at a meeting chaired by the chief minister on Tuesday.

Speaking to the reporters, Muzrai minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said, "Movement of people on air and rail has started. We have been receiving repeated pleas from devotees that temples should be opened. When this was discussed with the CM during a review of the Muzrai department, it was decided that temples can start from June 1."

Poojary maintained that the temples will be allowed to carry all the day-to-day activities except conducting fairs and ceremonies. The places of religious worship will also be required to maintain social distancing and other health norms.

As per officials, the order will be applicable to mosques, churches and other places of religious worship as well. However, this decision will be subject to whether or not the Centre will allow places of religious worship to be open for the public after Lockdown 4.0. The religious places of worship were ordered to close down as a preventive measure for the COVID-19.

On the occasion, Yediyurappa also launched an app-based online booking of sevas that will be rolled out in 52 Muzrai temples from Wednesday. These include the Sri Mookambika Temple in Kollur, Kukke Sri Subramanya Temple, Renuka Yellamma Temple in Saundatti, Banashankari Temple and Gavi Gangadhareshwara Temple in Bengaluru among others.

"With the help of the app the citizens can book a seva online. A few temples had this facility already. In the last one year, the Kukke Subramanya Temple had over 32,000 Sarpa Samskaras via online booking. In the Kollur temple, around 3,000 sevas were booked online. In the Chamundeshwari temple, sevas worth Rs 49 lac were booked online," Poojary said.

The government’s original plan was to also provide e-darshan and send prasadam through postal service. "No decision has been taken on live-streaming yet. The main temples of Kukke Subramanya and Kollur Mookambika are resisting going live. We will live-stream other temples, but after some time," a Muzrai official said. "We will look at sending prasadam in a week," he added.

The 2-month protocol of strict lockdown will get totally defeated if places of public worship are opened so soon; restraint should have been exercised as CORONA cases are being reported everyday in Karnataka, which shows it has not yet peaked out!
Starting public transport & opening public worship will only fan the flame of CORONA pandemic!! For the time being only e-workship should have been allowed till the CORONA settles down!

Basically people just want to get out of the four walls of the homes. But just opening temples and other places of worship will be opened depending on Central Govt instructions - now this is playing dirty politics. Either open all or close all places of worship. Stop playing cheap politics even in places of worship.
This Virus has shaken the entire universe and we need to take precautions to fight against it. But more importantly pray to God that HE protects us , the entire world from this deadly decease. In spite of uncertain future Politicians still do not learn lessons? This is pretty strange and weird isn't it? Do we even fear God? I have my own doubts.!!

God is within our hearts. We are praying more fervently from our home than in any religious place. We just need to realize that there are much more important things to focus on than opening our religious places. There are so many brothers and sisters stranded in different parts of the world who want to return to India. Similarly many are stranded in India and want to go to other countries for work purposes or to their families. Many have lost their jobs and desperately need to come back to India. Many will lose their jobs if they do not return to their employers in other countries. Why aren't we focusing on the right things?

Even if the temples are opened, Christians and Muslims must make a representation that Churches and Mosques should not be opened for public worship.

Temples are visited by devotees for individual prayer and pooja and social distancing is possible. Whereas in Mosques and churches large gatherings are held. It is difficult to regulate the number for common prayer and worship. Convinced by this common sense knowledge Christians and Muslims must continue to pray from home for some more time till the danger of Covid 19 recedes.

Please keep the churches, Temple and Mosque closed untill this epidemic is over. The god has given up on corornovirus and not going to listen to prayers.

So called highly respected priests failed us or failed to communicate people's message to god.

Good decision by the Government to open step by step, Its public responsibilities how much they want to take risk of their life and their family life. Government is not forcing anyone to go Temple. Today or tomorrow they have to open it. Those who can stay at home taking less risk and those who wants to take more risk of their life and their family life they can go where ever they want.

Let public decide how much safety distance they wants to follow to save their life.

This is really best...At Religious places social distancing can never never be possible... When there were hardly few cases places of worship where public gather were shut. Now, when infection at its peak they want to open these places... Hospitals/medical facilities won't be sufficient... Temples there may not be problem because people keep on moving... Still there will be risk of spreading... But churches/mosques chances are more. people have to be there 30/35 minutes on weekdays and one hour and so on Sunday's sitting close to each other...... Why so much hurry to open up the places of worship...

Cynthia...Do you think people in Churches/Mosques people assemble much than in temples. In our temples to get only darshan in some places it took
2-3 hours. Latter on again to Q to have Prasadham Ootam. People stay upto that period in temple.

If you people do not wish to go to churches/mosques for three month's period..let it utilised for quarantine people.

Peoplel who will go into temples mosques churches will go directly up from there.
Who makes these rules, we are not able to contain this virus with soo many lockdowns and they want to open all these places. If people have to pray they can pray from their homes. It's no where proven that god stays only in temples mosques and churches. I believe these must be the last priorities based on the way this virus transmits.

Looks like God's are hungry rather than the devotees.
It would have been better if the upcoming problems of patients
pleaseeople below poverty level were given priority Also
the farmers cultivation if given priority then we can be
self sufficient and happily go to temples with our devotion
alongwith fruitful donation . This way the infection of present
disease can be avoided until we find a vaccine.
