Husband travels by car from Dhaka to reach Bengaluru to attend wife's funeral

Bengaluru, Apr 17: In a heart-wrenching that has taken place in the city, Sowmya Bhat (40) died on Thursday due to breathing problems. Her husband Venkat Raju works in Dhaka in Bangladesh. The daughter of couple, who is just 13-years-old is not aware that her mother is no more.

Venkat Raju brought this matter to the notice of the Indian Embassy in Dhaka. But they could not help because all flight services from Dhaka are cancelled due to coronavirus lockdown. The Bangladesh government also expressed its helplessness in the wake of the prevailing restrictions due to the coronavirus pandemic.


Dr Arathi Krishna

Dr Arathi Krishna, secretary of Indian Overseas Congress, got this news from someone else. She got complete details through telephone. She wrote a letter to the Ministry of Home Affairs (foreign) and contacted Sumant Singh, director of immigration, and got special permission to allow Venkat Raju to reach Bengaluru from Dhaka by car.

Now Venkat Raju has now crossed the Indian border with Dhaka and reached Bengaluru.
