MHA helplines addressed 300 plus Covid-19 queries on Wed


New Delhi, Apr 9 (IANS): In its effort to help the needy amid the coronavirus induced nationwide lockdown, the Union Ministry of Home Affairs said on Thursday that it has addressed over 300 queries on Wednesday.

These queries were addressed by its eight control room helplines being run round-the-clock at its office. A Joint Secretary from the Home Ministry shared the information in a press briefing and also declared that a dedicated helpline (1944) for the Northeast is also active.

The Home Ministry on April 3 introduced two helpline numbers in its control room to help the needy. Of them, helpline number 1930 is an all India toll-free number and 1944 is dedicated to the Northeast.

Seven other helplines are already active in the Home Ministry control room to respond to the complaints related to the Covid-19 pandemic which has claimed 169 lives deaths and infected 5,218 people across the country.
