Kundapur, Apr 9: In spite of the fact that information about the amount of death and devastation let loose by coronavirus pandemic is reaching everyone regularly, the people of this town seem to be unconcerned about the risks involved. During the period till 11 in the morning when people are allowed to come out, the people have been ignoring the need to maintain social distancing with impunity. This callous attitude is shocking to say the least.

The police and other departments have been educating and warning people through loud speakers and other modes about the grave dangers posed by this disease. People are aghast at the recklessness of the people of the town who neither wear face masks nor take any precautions against contracting the disease.

Since the last two days, bakeries have been allowed to function. Bakery shops are now open, and customers have been flocking these shops. No one seems to care about social distancing or taking care against getting infected. Similar situation is observed in front of fair price shops run by this government and Janaushadhi medical shops. The people look like celebrating marriage or some such auspicious function, totally oblivious to the danger hovering over them.

In main roads too nobody is following rules. People and vehicles cover every inch of the available space, and it appears as if they have forgotten about the ruthless effects of coronavirus infection. Many feel that if this situation is allowed to continue, it need not come as a surprise if coronavirus cases continue to rise here from now on.

It's the case everywhere; despite not maintaining social distances, we hardly have any spurt in CV infection/mortality rates, which means it's not at all morbid in our country compared to the havoc in advanced countries!!
