Mangaluru: Several motorbikes parked near garage gutted due to short circuit

Mangaluru, Apr 8: In an incident which occurred near Karnad bypass near Mulky on national highway 66, several two-wheeler vehicles which were parked near a garage were charred after a fire broke out due to short circuit on Tuesday, April 7.

On Tuesday afternoon, sparks reportedly flew from the high tension electric pole near Karnad bypass after which the grass in the area caught fire. The fire spread within seconds after which an eyewitness called the Mulky police and fire brigade. 

The fire, however, gained momentum and began to burn down two-wheelers kept near a garage belonging to a local named Razack. Locals along with police personnel tried to douse the fire by spraying water. Later, water tanker from Pooja Arrangers Haleangady was summoned and the fire was extinguished. About 10 two-wheelers were destroyed in the fire, inflicting loss of lacs of rupees, it is said. 

Mulky police inspector Jayarama Gowda and fire officer from Mangaluru, Muhammed Nawaz visited the spot and scrutinized the situation.
